It's originally named Chongyang Temple, it was built in memory of Wang Chongyang, the founder of Chuan Chen Tao (one sect of Taoism), who spread the Taoism and died here. It was repaired and expanded in the early year of Yuan Dynasty, in the compound of the temple, the halls were magnificent, and went to the climax once in a time. It was repaired and renamed as Yanqing Temple in 1373 AD in Ming Dynasty, up to now. The most buildings in the temple were destroyed, and only the Tower of Jade Emperor is remained.
